Setter

A setter tries to always take the second ball, to give a hitter the best opportunity to attack (hit) the ball.

The setter for a team is usually the player with the most ball control and best over-the-head setting ability.

By having a designated setter, it allows the other players to prepare to hit once they know the setter is able to get to the ball.
